Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. Their peculiarity is in the fact that they use the existing dental structures, for support.
When tooth is lost and a gap or gaps occur between teeth, the structure of the face could be changed, chewing may be difficult and painful and so this is used to replaces the lost teeth which would be of aesthetic as well as functional.

In this procedure, the adjacent teeth are prepared by removing some enamel on them so that crowns could be put on them usually contained within these crowns is a metal wiring for structure and between these crowns is the false tooth. The bridge is then posed onto the adjacent teeth and cemented in place. The adjacent teeth serve as a support for the false tooth, stabilizing it.
There are different kinds of bridges and used because of the different patterns in which missing teeth occurs. Sometimes adjacent teeth may be lost, like two in a row and will need a different kind of bridge than one in which one tooth is lost between other healthy ones.
